The Power of Together: Local Food and Non-Profits

When things are uncertain, what is important becomes clear. The nourishment and care that food provides, is foundational in importance. Kakookies was founded on the mission of providing better-for-you food while matching that with the comfort of a cookie.

We were grateful to learn that Kakookies are uniquely positioned to partner with local food organizations, such as Loaves and Fishes, whose mission is to provide and deliver healthy meals to Minnesotans in areas where needs are greatest. Each Kakookies is made with real food ingredients that also happen to be gluten free, soy free, vegan and individually wrapped, which is ideal for take-out meal service and meeting special dietary needs.

Kakookies partners with local Minnesota organization Loaves and Fishes to support the community

We were able to donate over 15,000 Kakookies to add to the delicious and comforting take-away meals prepared at the Minnesota Central Kitchen, that Loaves and Fishes coordinates for distribution across 37 dining sites.

We are also grateful to share Kakookie goodness to local hospitals, providing the frontline healthcare workers with a convenient snack to satisfy hunger and sustain their energy. After 11 local snack companies collectively donated thousands of dollars of snacks to Covid 19 designated Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, we’ve now created the MN Hero Snack Pack.  Each $25 donation helps local food businesses supply snacks for 10 medical workers to other area hospitals.  Stay tuned for updates, but in the meantime, if you’d like more information, please visit MN Hero Snack Pack donation page.

We are in this together! Over the next couple weeks we will be sharing unique ways the local food community is supporting each other. Good food matters and good food matters for everyone! Reach out and let us know how you are meeting unique needs and how we may partner together in this effort.
